As the theme of the short movie revolves around continuity, stagnation, loneliness and loss the track emphasizes this atmosphere in a musical way. The composition is filled with ambient noise and instrumental sounds that are supposed to represent loneliness whilst the stagnation and continuity are thematically present through the maintenance of the same key chord and BPM.

Since the track isn’t finished yet, I want to keep focusing on trying to build something mainly around the two themes; stagnation and continuity. Also, the short movie will represent a distinction between reality and a place in the mind, which is kind of like a combination of limbo and a room for the residual self-image (The Matrix), an alternate reality. In the heavier parts of the composition there’s a clear display of primitive rhythms which correlates with the desire to (re)turn to a noble savage-like state of mind in an attempt to escape urban hell.

I got inspired by the early works of John Frusciante; Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt and Smiles from the streets you hold, mainly because of its pureness, but also by William Basinski, who is a prominent avant-garde ambient musician.

I really enjoy working on the piece, especially in combination with developing a movie. It really pushes me to be more aware of what sound means and adds to a moving image, which is a fun challenge.
