An experiment;
I put a snail in my ear because I wanted to hear if I could hear any sounds he makes. I just heard him leaving the slimy trace
after this I of course put the snail back immediately where I found it outside

MATTER REALITIES OF THE SONIC

I usually don't really work with sound and I thought that I would like it, because the sonic is something I'm interested in. I enjoyed the classes and I learned a lot of new terms and artists. Even after the classes or in between, I recalled certain things that were discussed in class and wanted to do more research on it, whereas normally after any class I just return to my own little world.
This week I've een using my Hotglue page as a sketchbook of ideas, inspiration and experiments. I went on different soundwalks, tied my phone to my shoe to research if the sounds of the surroundings changed in any way. I also experimented several times with wine glasses; I filled them up with different amounts of water and 'played' them, I washed them, smashed them on the ground, made the toasting sound... I did a performance where i played the wine glass in a corner of the street with a roof, to test the acoustics. I did that in my shower as well, and the glass would slowly be filled up with water, so the tone would go lower. I've been playing Pauline Oliveros, Brian Eno, and the Caretaker almost 24/7 since they were mentioned in class and whenever I turn it off, it is like a nice warm blanket is been ripped off me. 'Deep listening' was one of the keywords I was drawn to, and I took a very literal approach of that term in one of the experiments; i took a snail and put it in my ear to see/hear if it would try and get inside and maybe I would hear some sounds it made.
My final track is a clash between the calming sounds of 'deep listening' by Oliveros, and the both noisey and harmonic sounds of the wine glass; the breaking being the noise, and the tones I created the harmonic.
FINAL PIECE
